  • Kybella® is a non-surgical procedure that reduces fat under the chin. The injectable procedure is an alternative to surgical techniques like liposuction. The injection treatment takes between 15 to 20 minutes using synthetic deoxycholic acid.

According to studies, more than 80 percent of people who got the treatment reported improvements in their appearance. Kybella treatment is considered safe and effective for getting rid of double chins.

    Kybella Technique

Kybella injectable treatment targets the fat that usually appears beneath the chin. This excess fat is usually known as the “double chin” appearance. The acid injections are directed at the fat cells in the area. The procedure does not require incisions, and there is minimal downtime after treatment.

The treatment can be used on any adult who has moderate to severe chin fat. The technique is not suitable for pregnant or nursing mothers or people who have difficulty swallowing. Anyone with a medical condition or infection near the site should not get Kybella.

    Before Kybella Treatment

Prepare before the Kybella treatment. Talk to the doctor or dentist to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. You will need to discuss your medical history and offer information on any previous facial and neck cosmetic treatment.

Inform the healthcare provider about any bleeding issues or difficulty swallowing. You also need to tell the doctor if you are pregnant, nursing, or hoping to become pregnant soon. It is advisable to schedule the treatment before major events and avoid taking medications before treatment.

    Kybella Technique Procedure

The Kybella injection contains synthetic deoxycholic acid. Naturally produced deoxycholic acid is a bile product of the body, and it helps in fat absorption. When injected into the chin, the acid destroys the fat cells, preventing the chin from storing more fat.

The injections, which can number between 20 and 50, need to be administered by a trained professional. This will help ensure that the acid does not kill other cells. An ice pack or topical numbing agent may ease discomfort or pain during the procedure.

    After the Procedure

After the injections have been administered, the acid will kill the fat cells gradually. This will happen over time, and the body will metabolize the fat cells over the next couple of weeks. The number of treatment sessions required will vary from one individual to the next.

Multiple treatments are usually necessary to achieve the desired results. Most people receive up to six treatments. The Kybella treatments are usually scheduled for one month between sessions.

    Getting Rid of Double Chins

A Kybella treatment plan is designed to suit the individual’s specific needs. You will need several treatments to reach your goal of getting rid of the double chins. It usually takes several weeks before the results become evident.

The non-surgical procedure has few side effects that usually subside within a week or two. Some people may experience some bruising, swelling, pain, numbness, and redness after the procedure.
